Divine, a short video Vine-like experience, had their app go live this week. It includes vintage vines previously archived from the original platform. Instant nostalgia is a great hook.

In the HTTP Signature Report we suggest a double-knock strategy for deploying RFC 9421. Basically, try RFC 9421 first, and if you get an error, downshift to draft-cavage-12 and try again.

Hey @panos@catodon.rocks, now that I’m tracking errors encountered, I’ve got a bit more visibility into things that normally would’ve just been caught and ignored.
Holos Discover added a couple of new filters to its API search - minimum likes and minimum boosts. Additionally, although not documented, you can pass contentType=image|video|audio|text|all|none to the `/api/search` endpoint and it works.
Arnold Schrijver (@smallcircles) just published a fairly long thinkpiece on the future of ActivityPub and the fediverse and how we could achieve a grassroots improvement of the standards. It's well worth a read!

Hi @peertube@framapiaf.org I am looking to debug some potential federation issues between NodeBB and Peertube and I am wondering if there is a test server I can federate against.
Instance software is constantly evolving and adding new features. Wouldn’t it be good if there was a way for other instances to discover what features yours can handle, to determine how they will communicate?
Just had to add a workaround to #Fedify for http://joinmastodon.org/ns, a JSON-LD context URL that has never actually served a JSON-LD document. Mastodon has always inlined the term definitions, but some implementations put it as a bare URL in their @context, so Fedify’s JSON-LD processor tries to fetch it and gets a 404 Not Found. Now Fedify ships a bundled copy of a context that never existed in the first place.
Update: we’ve decided to go ahead and submit the CFP to @COSCUP@floss.social 2026. The track will be called Fediverse & Social Web—think FOSDEM’s Social Web devroom, but in Taipei. #COSCUP is free to attend, like FOSDEM.

Today @kopper@not-brain.d.on-t.work shared a post on the fediverse titled *how to not regret c2s*, and I found it genuinely interesting to read, even if I’m not sure its proposed architecture actually solves what it sets out to solve.
When I first started working with #ActivityPub, before #Fedify existed, it felt like writing web apps in Perl and CGI in the late ‘90s. Interesting, even exciting—but never comfortable. That era where your business logic and your protocol plumbing were just… the same thing:
Started laying out a rough plan for implementing FEP-ef61: Portable Objects in #Fedify—server-independent #ActivityPub identities backed by #DIDs, multi-server replication, and client-side signing. It’s going to be a long road (13 tasks across 5 phases, with a few open questions that need answering before we even begin), but I think it’s worth doing right.
NodeBB federates out Note or Article depending on the length of the content. While this by-and-large works, the article logic does not encourage as much discussion as expected because a summary is generated so as to provide something for microblog-style software to show (otherwise, it would only show the title (name) and a URL to the forum.)

FEP drafting: Am I using “side effects” here the same way as other ActivityPub developers? I've seen the term used a bunch in casual conversation, but my personal understanding of it is kinda fuzzy.

After months of struggling with the “zombie post” issue on Hackers’ Pub—where deleted posts wouldn’t disappear from remote servers—I had a sudden hypothesis today. As I dug into it, I realized it’s a structural issue with Fedify’s MessageQueue system: Create(Note) and Delete(Note) activities can be delivered out of order, causing remote instances to receive Delete(Note) before Create(Note).
Cryptographic public-keys are one way that one can have an identity (on the Fediverse, and elsewhere) while also having privacy — through a pseudonymous identity.
While working on #Fedify, I noticed something about how #Misskey handles #ActivityPub object access. When a remote server requests a followers-only post or DM with a valid HTTP Signatures (draft-cavage) from an authorized actor, Misskey still returns 404 instead of the content. It seems Misskey only checks the visibility field (public/home) without verifying the signature at all.
with all the meta about the new social network called W going on I thought it was funny I just discovered a new flavor of #fediverse server at z.org. Looks like its author @maxfield got federation working last month and they named the software #Elektrine#fedidev
