Hi ! I advanced a lot on PieFed’s wiki and i hope i can start soon other wiki as Mbin, Iceshrimp. I improved wiki navigation via a navbox. The fediverse roadmap is also added here. You will also find bunch of communities to start your journey :)
Links are not the only thing keeping big news publisher from high engagement on tweets; there are lots of factors. But this analysis shows that the way that most big news publishers, with the exception of Fox News, really haven’t changed the way they tweet, even as the platform’s incentives have changed.
I briefly posted about this in this thread yesterday. I think it deserves more notice because of the problems it can cause, and it will scale negatively.
Profiles are the primary way for people using Mastodon to ‘meet’ one another on a deeper level – beyond a threaded conversation or search results. You might have noticed that the overall design of Profiles hasn’t been explored in a while, and in the meantime, we’ve heard requests and challenges from people who use Mastodon every day.
tags.pub is a new service under development by the Social Web Foundation. It is a global hashtag server – it lets you follow a hashtag across the Fediverse. There’s lots of information on the tags.pub home page, and I (Evan) did a talk about tags.pub at FOSDEM 2026. This blog post answers some basics about…
An article making the case that the Fediverse is a fantastic communication platform for public institutions - because of its openness, transparency and reach.
The latest episode of the Europeans podcast (@europeanspodcast@mastodon.social) features a really nice interview with Eugen Rochko (aka “Europe’s anti-Elon") where he goes into his thoughts about Mastodon, the Fediverse, and his own position in all of it. It’s a really interesting discussion, and an excellent example of how one can talk to people about the Fediverse without making it sound incredibly intimidating.
Wanted to share something with this community and see if it’s useful to anyone. Inkwell (inkwell.social) is an open source, multi-tenant social journaling platform built on ActivityPub. The goal is to fill the long-form writing gap in the fediverse in a way that’s accessible to non-technical users, not just developers who can spin up their own instance of WriteFreely or Ghost.
My goal is to average 1 post and 7 comments a week. I started late, and not there yet, but hope to get there within the next month. Do you have any goals or plans on building the Fediverse?
Once again, the Open Social Web community is meeting online for the global FediForum unconference, to discuss, teach and learn, and move the Open Social Web forward.
I have been considering some areas to focus my efforts in the advancement of the development of the fediverse, and in my research, I feel that there are a series of gaps that could be beneficial for the strength and functionality of decentralized platforms.
Hey everyone, the attached link is my write-up about the plans for a new community I am trying to get established.
Since I know a lot of people don’t actually follow links to read articles, I’ll copy and paste some stuff here:
Effective reddit advertisement and discussion on r/degoogle, r/buyfromEU, and a Canadian subreddit (forgot the name) boosted piefed.social and piefed.ca primarily. I’d like to see more of this if people know viable subreddits, and help spread the load too across many servers. Currently piefed.social has about 50%+ of all piefed users. This is too much long-term.
It’s something I’ve been thinking about lately. The older, bigger or more aggressive in its crawling an instance is, the more information it tends to hold.
A big thank you to those who contributed to making this release, translating, writing documentation, providing emotional support and promoting PieFed! None of this would happen without you all.
Pretty good write-up calling out European politicians in particular for calling for increased tech sovereignty in Europe, but not putting their money where their moth is by actually using the European alternative that already exists.
I’m a big proponent of getting people off closed platforms and algorithms that manipulate our feeds. I took a big swing writing this one and hope people enjoy it. Feedback is welcome!
The host Search Engine, PJ Vogt, and the host of Hard Fork, Kevin Roose, discussed their thoughts about a “new kind of Internet” possible with the Fediverse. They also talked about the challenges of the somewhat technical barrier to entry.
Hello I am looking to buy some headphones and get some advice are there any active communities on the threadiverse about audio and stuff I looked for it but couldn’t find any
This is mostly just word-vomit, but I had a random idea while doing a tonne of Xmas shopping and figured you guys might appreciate possibly chewing on it.
